Resumen

The purpose of the present work is to analyze the single parent births that we find in Greek mythology, paying attention to those that took place under a chaos-dominated so- ciety, previously to those that derive from the development of the patriarchal society. In addiction the divine conceptios os Caos, Gea, Nix, Eris, Rea and Aphrodite and their divine descendants will be analised in order to discover the advantages and disadvantages of having a baby alone, where female gods are concerned. Last, we will see how those births show, in their respective influence areas and in their own features as divinities, the dangers of single parent maternity and the multiple profits that parthenogenesis-based paternity could offer to the Greek society.
