Resumen

The purpose of the research is to analyze the degree of relationship and influence of emotional intelligence, cultural intelligence and academic commitment on the professional satisfaction of college students of the State of Guanajuato, México, who were enrolled in study abroad programs. The methodological design was quantitative, explanatory, observational, correlational and transversal. A sample of 212 students from 22 public and private universities in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico was used. For hypothesis testing, a structural equation model (SEM) was developed under the statistical software Amos v. 21 and SPSS v.21 for information analysis. Regarding the goodness and adjustment indices of the SEM (χ2 = 239.27, gl = 99; CFI = 0.909 and TLI = 0.890; RMSEA = .08) they were absolutely acceptable. According to the results obtained through the SEM, it is shown that intelligent culture positively and significantly influences emotional intelligence (β1 = 0.55; p <0.001) and academic commitment (β2 = 0.54; p <0.001). Likewise, emotional intelligence (β3 = 0.49; p <0.001) exerts a positive and significant influence on professional satisfaction. In the same way, the academic commitment (β4 = 0.41; p <0.001) has a positive and significant influence on the professional satisfaction of the students of the state of Guanajuato. The findings are relevant and valuable since there are currently not enough investigations that are focused on the variables analyzed within the Mexican context. Especially, to take actions within universities to improve student mobility.
